The Interconnectedness of Forests, Biodiversity, and Ecosystem Services
Forests, Biodiversity, and Ecosystem Services are intrinsically linked. Forest ecosystems provide habitats for diverse species, which in turn contribute to the functionality and productivity of these ecosystems. The loss of forests leads to a decline in biodiversity, which diminishes ecosystem services, adversely affecting climate regulation, water purification, and other critical services.

Preserving forests and biodiversity is crucial for sustaining ecosystem services that underpin human livelihoods and environmental health. Efforts to conserve and restore forests, protect biodiversity, and maintain ecosystem services are essential for achieving sustainable development and mitigating the impacts of climate change.

FIDEP Foundation employs a comprehensive approach to addressing the interrelated challenges of forest conservation, biodiversity preservation, and ecosystem services. We address forest conservation, biodiversity preservation, and ecosystem services through a comprehensive strategy that includes policy advocacy, capacity building, partnerships, research, and financial support. FIDEP’s strategy encompasses a range of initiatives and frameworks aimed at promoting sustainable management of natural resources, enhancing ecosystem resilience, and supporting global biodiversity targets.
Our research and monitoring efforts help inform decision-making, while innovative projects and programmes programs are well aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those related to life on land, climate action, and clean water and sanitation.
